WKU wants to pay new assistant hoops coach $200 K per season

The Courier Journal reports Western Kentucky is proposing to pay the guardian of prize recruit Charles Bassey $200-thousand to be an assistant coach. Hennessy Auriantal would make as much money as the highest paid assistant on Rick Stansbury’s staff. Auriantal was announced as the new assistant Tuesday, however it has not been approved by the school’s Board of Regents.

The Hilltoppers announced Bassey’s signing last month. A five-star center from Louisville prep school Aspire Academy and one of the nation’s top 2019 prospects, Bassey opted to reclassify and join the Hilltoppers this season.
