Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam was defeated by Hopkinsville Police Officer Jason Barnes in a Republican primary, meaning Barnes will fill that role come January.
Barnes won the primary by 93 votes and says Sheriff Burnam has already pledged his support to make a smooth transition. Barnes says a top priority will be making schools safer in Trigg County.
Eddie Proffitt won the Republican primary for jailer and will face James Hughes in November and Republican Lauren Fowler will face Democrat Michael Bryan in the general election for PVA in November after winning a three-way primary.
