Detectives on lunch witness drug deal in Madisonville

Detectives in Madisonville on their lunch break arrested two men after witnessing an alleged drug deal Wednesday afternoon.

The officers with the Madisonville-Hopkins County VICE/Narcotics Unit were in the parking lot at the Ideal Market on East Center Street when a suspicious vehicle parked next to them, according to a news release.

The detectives observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the parking lot and took the parties into custody. They seized Oxycodone, marijuana and cash.

Both suspects, 21-year old Dayshawn Jones and 25-year old Michael Meatris of Madisonville, were arrested and charged with trafficking in opiates.
