Traffic stop near Allensville ends with arrest

A traffic stop in Allensville Friday night led to the arrest of a Clarksville man on multiple charges, including assault of a police officer.

Trooper Curtis Crick stopped 24-year old Keelon Rice of Clarksville for speeding on US 79 and a news release says an odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Rice was ordered to exit the car, but refused.

When Trooper Crick opened the car door to remove Rice, he allegedly accelerated, nearly dragging the trooper under the car.

Rice was eventually taken out of the vehicle and continued to resist. He was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, third-degree assault of a police officer, speeding, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
