HPD charges man with trafficking meds

A stop for a traffic violation Thursday evening led to the arrest of the driver for drug trafficking charges.

Officer Alexander Cortez attempted to stop 38-year old Corey Stubbs of Hopkinsville for not using a turn signal at East First and South Virginia Street and an arrest citation says Stubbs continued for several blocks before finally stopping on North Main Street.

Police say there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a search allegedly revealed multiple prescription narcotic pills.

Stubbs was arrested for trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, improper turning and failure to use a signal.
