Hopkinsville native achieves the rank of Colonel

A Hopkinsville native has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army and the community is celebrating his success.

Colonel Edwin L Chilton II of Hopkinsville was promoted September 13at Fort Knox. He has had a long, decorated career in the Army, including serving as a Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Deputy Adjutant General, Battalion Commander, and currently serves the Cadet Command G1 and will attend Senior Service College next summer.

He has been deployed multiple times in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He is the son of late Edwin Chilton I and Nancy Hutchinson and he is currently married to the former Charlene Graham with children Edwin and Isabella. He was presented with a key to the City of Hopkinsville by Mayor Carter Hendricks at the ceremony in Fort Knox.
