HPD: Portion of man’s finger severed in assault

A man is charged with felony assault after he allegedly severed the top portion of another man’s finger off in a door during an altercation on Brown Street.

An arrest citation for 63-year old Jewell Manning of Hopkinsville says he and Roscoe Anderson were in an argument at a home in the 400 block of Brown Street a few minutes after noon.

Manning allegedly drew a handgun as the altercation escalated and displayed it in a threatening manner.

As Anderson attempted to leave, Manning allegedly slammed the front door with Anderson’s finger in the door jamb, severing the top portion.

Anderson was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and Manning was arrested for second-degree assault and third-degree terroristic threatening.
