MLB: Reds & Cardinals win while Cubs & Braves lose Sunday

The Cincinnati Reds walked off the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 on Michael Lorenzen’s pinch-hit, run-scoring double in the ninth at Great American Ball Park. Reds manager David Bell on the win:

Eugenio Suárez belted two homers, hiking his total to 44, and drove in the first three Reds runs. The Reds are off today before opening a series tomorrow in Seattle.

Elsewhere in the National League: Jack Flaherty struck out 10 over eight shutout innings as the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0. The Cardinals are off today before opening a series tomorrow night in Denver against the Colorado Rockies.

The Cardinals lead the Chicago Cubs by 4 ½ games in the NL Central. The Cubs lost the series finale to Milwaukee 8-5 Sunday and open a series at San Diego this evening.

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Washington Nationals 9-4 Sunday. The Braves open a four game series tonight at Philadelphia.
