The first day of the 32nd annual Trail of Tears Pow Wow wrapped up with good crowds and perfect weather Saturday at the park on East Ninth Street.
The sound of drums and singing filled the air as attendees got to enjoy learning about Native American history and tradition while perusing crafts and other vendors. Jimmy Dossett says the good weather drew in good crowds, and he expects the same when the gates open again Sunday.
He says the Pow Wow serves as both entertainment and education.
All money raised goes back into maintaining the commemorative park and grand entry is at 1 p.m. Sunday, where the festivities will continue until approximately 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 through six years of age and under six years old get in free. Parking is also free.
