A miner for Warrior Coal is dead after being found inside Cardinal Mine Thursday afternoon.
Alliance Coal says the miner—who has been identified by state officials as 39-year old Jeremy Elder of Providence—was found yesterday afternoon. He was brought to the surface where first responders tried resuscitation efforts but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased two hours after being found. An investigation concerning Elder’s death is underway.
This is the second coal mining death in western Kentucky in just over a month.
