Clarksville Street Department employee killed in hit and run

A City of Clarksville Street Department employee who was on foot was killed in a hit and run incident Tuesday morning and police are asking for the public’s help to locate the driver responsible.

Clarksville police say the employee who was in his 30’s was working at the corner of Riverside Drive and College Street when he was struck by a tractor-trailer turning from Riverside Drive onto College Street just before 10:45 a.m.  The city employee died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop and anyone with information on the driver or truck should call Clarksville Crime Stoppers at 931-645-TIPS.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts says, “It’s a sad day for us at the City of Clarksville. We lost a valued member of our employee family, and someone lost a husband, a son and a father. We all are full of grief today.”
