Man critically injured after falling from bed of pickup in Clarksville

Clarksville police say a 19-year old man was critically injured early Labor Day morning after he fell out of the back of a pickup truck on the 101st Airborne Division Parkway.

It happened shortly after midnight between Fort Campbell Boulevard and Jordan Road. It was initially a mystery how the man came to be injured on the roadway when he was discovered by other motorists, but the story became clear when the driver of the truck later called authorities after discovering the bed of his truck was empty.

The driver of the truck said the 19-year old had been drinking at a party and needed a ride home, so he put him in the back of his pickup. At some point on the journey and for unknown reasons, the 19-year old man exited the bed of the truck onto the roadway.

Police say the driver of the pickup didn’t notice the man missing from his truck until several minutes later and there was no indication that he was driving impaired.

The 19-year old man, whose name has not been released, was flown by LifeFlight to a Nashville hospital in critical condition.
