Hopkinsville man charged with strangulation

A Hopkinsville man was arrested on a strangulation charge Thursday after he allegedly attacked a woman.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to a residence on Linn Street following an anonymous 911 call and hang up.  Upon arrival, the victim and another witness told officers that 36-year old William Womack of Hopkinsville had allegedly become enraged and tossed around furniture.

He then allegedly struck the victim twice in the head, got on top of her and choked her by putting his hands around her throat.

Womack was taken into custody and charged with second-degree strangulation, which is a Class D felony.
