Kentucky freshman quarterback Nik Scalzo will undergo surgery after re-injuring his right knee during the Wildcats’ second scrimmage last Saturday. Scalzo, a 6-foot, 180 signal caller from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, had surgery last fall as a high school senior for a torn ACL in the knee.
Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said today that Scalzo was hurt while trying to plant and make a cut during the scrimmage. He will have surgery next week. The coach added that he was disappointed for Scalzo because he had ”worked extremely hard” to recover from the previous surgery.
Kentucky opens the 2019 season hosting Toledo on August 31st.
