Clarksville PD: Man brandished handgun in road rage incident

The Clarksville Police Department arrested a man Friday on multiple charges, after he allegedly brandished a gun during an act of road rage.

According to a news release, officers responded to the area of Fort Campbell Boulevard for reports of a road rage incident between a motorcyclist and the driver of a pickup truck that appeared to be chasing each other. When an officer attempted to stop the two vehicles, the pickup stopped while the motorcycle initially started to comply, but then sped away.

The operator of the motorcycle, 34-year old Reginald Nesmith of Clarksville, was stopped a short time later on Providence Boulevard, after reaching speeds of around 85 miles per hour.  The driver of the pickup told officers that Nesmith had allegedly been driving recklessly, while Nesmith says the pickup driver had tried to run him off the road.  Nesmith allegedly brandished a handgun at one point during the incident.

When the pickup tried to leave, Nesmith reportedly followed him until officers arrived.  A search of Nesmith’s person reportedly revealed a handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash.

Nesmith was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless driving, fleeing or evading police, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
