Two arrested for meth trafficking

An investigation Thursday night at the Hopkinsville Best Western led to two people being arrested on drug trafficking charges.

Hopkinsville police were called to the hotel regarding a guest who refused to leave after being ejected for smoking in the building. Officers made contact with 29-year old Gregory Herald and 38-year old Sonya Salyers of Hopkinsville.

The arrest citations say Herald appeared to be under the influence of a substance and there were three purses located inside their vehicle. Salyers claimed ownership of one of the purses and a search of another allegedly revealed methamphetamine, a meth pipe, two needles and baggies.

Police say a K9 alerted on the vehicle and a search of Salyers’ purse also turned up meth.

Herald allegedly had a bottle of marijuana in his pocket and a large amount of cash concealed in his underwear.

Both suspects were arrested for trafficking in methamphetamine and Herald was additionally charged with possession of marijuana.
