The Hopkinsville Police Department is among agencies across Kentucky participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign through Labor Day Weekend.
Sgt. Rico Rodriguez says it’s all about making the roads safer by removing anyone driving impaired.
He says they’ll be using a variety of strategies during the campaign.
There were 4,700 total wrecks involving alcohol in Kentucky last year, resulting in more than 2,400 injuries and 87 fatalities. Nationally, someone does from an alcohol-related crash every 50 minutes.
