Another Todd Central student arrested for alleged threat

For the second consecutive day, a student was removed from Todd County Central High School and arrested after alleged threats against other students.

Superintendent Ed Oyler says that during a class Wednesday morning, the school administration received notification that a student had made a verbal threat of harm toward other students in a classroom. He says it was similar to Tuesday’s incident and called it a ‘copycat threat.’

School leaders immediately contacted law enforcement, removed the suspect from campus and he was questioned by police and personnel from the school system.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Department arrested the suspect and he is charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, which is a felony.

Oyler sent out a letter urging parents to talk to their children about the severity of consequences of making threats—noting every threat will be taken seriously and will result in a felony charge when warranted.

An assembly was held Wednesday afternoon in the school gymnasium to discuss the two threats and arrests this week and to emphasize the severity of consequences for any threat against the school, students, faculty or staff.
