A pursuit of a stolen car with kittens inside through several counties ended just inside Tennessee Sunday afternoon when the vehicle crashed and driver fled on foot.
The white BMW was stolen from a rest stop in Missouri, according to Clarksville police, who noted the owner had kittens in the car. State police and Lyon County sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull the car over, but it continued at speeds of over 100 mph in Trigg and Christian counties, with local deputies joining the pursuit.
The car crashed near Exit 1 in Clarksville and the suspect fled and was not located. He is described only as a white male with gray hair.
Anyone with information on the suspect should call the Clarksville Police Department.
The kittens who went on the ride of their lives through four states at such a young age are reported to be doing fine and were turned over to Montgomery Animal Control for safe keeping until their owner can retrieve them. Police say that owner had already called in to check on them soon after the crash.
