The Hoptown Hoppers win the 2019 OVL Championship

The Hoptown Hoppers win their 1st OVL Championship since 2012.

Dubois County Bombers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-3 loss to Hoptown Hoppers on Saturday. Hoptown Hoppers scored on a error during Cameron Hill’s at bat in the second inning, a single by Brant Husser in the second inning, and a home run by Jacob Jenkins in the third inning.

Dubois County Bombers lost despite out-hitting Hoptown Hoppers 11 to ten.

In the second inning, Hoptown Hoppers got their offense started when an error scored one run for Hoptown Hoppers.

Hoptown Hoppers scored three runs in the eighth inning. Hoptown Hoppers scored its runs on a single by Jenkins.

Will Nash was credited with the victory for Hoptown Hoppers. He lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and three runs while striking out five. Tyler Walton and Brennan Crooms entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Samuel Steimel took the loss for Dubois County Bombers. He lasted five innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out two.

Hoptown Hoppers hit two home runs on the day. Hunter Evans went deep in the sixth inning. Jenkins had a four bagger in the third inning.

Dubois County Bombers racked up 11 hits on the day. Easton Stewart, Zuriel Collins, Tyler Best, and Chase Hug all collected multiple hits for Dubois County Bombers. Stewart led Dubois County Bombers with three hits in four at bats.

Hoptown Hoppers racked up ten hits. Jenkins and Husser all had multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Jenkins went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Hoptown Hoppers in hits. Hoptown Hoppers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hill led the way with three.
