Millbrooke Elementary has plans in place to ease traffic woes

Wednesday is the first day of the new year for Christian County Public Schools and plans are in place to alleviate traffic woes at Millbrooke Elementary School.

Millbrooke is the third-largest school in the district and has already experienced significant issues with traffic around the school during drop-off and pick-up hours in the past. Those problems could be magnified during the first semester this year with the bridge on Millbrooke between the school and Country Club Lane closed as the structure is replaced.

Principal Ryan Amerson says there will be one drop-off location this year and they’ve added gravel on the grounds to make a loop around the building.

Amerson notes there are five carpool hubs at churches and businesses in the area where parents can meet up and reduce traffic at the school.

Motorists on Pyle Lane should be aware of a four-way stop being installed at Millbrooke and a portion of that busy roadway will become a school zone.

Amerson says they’re also pushing a ‘hike it or bike it’ campaign encouraging students to come to school on foot or by bicycle if it’s feasible.

Complete information on the changes can be found on the Millbrooke Elementary School Facebook page.
