A foot pursuit of a man wanted on warrants Sunday morning ended with an arrest with new charges tacked on.
Hopkinsville police were called to a Walnut Street address after a woman said 28-year old David Owens of Hopkinsville had slashed her tires. Further investigation determined her tires had not been damaged, but a computer check revealed Owens was sought on outstanding warrants.
Owens walked away from the area prior to officers’ arrival, but he was soon located and fled to avoid being arrested.
He was caught and arrested on East Third Street and a search of the area revealed a baggie of synthetic marijuana. Owens was charged with possession of synthetic drugs, fleeing or evading police and tampering with evidence.
He was additionally served with a warrant for fleeing or evading police, synthetic drug possession and no registration plates in relation to a June 24 incident when he allegedly fled his vehicle on foot during a traffic stop.
Owens was also sought on warrants for contempt of court and failure to appear in court.
