Man charged with receiving stolen property, possession of handgun by convicted felon

A Hopkinsville man has been charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon by the Hopkinsville Police Department.

According to the police report, officers responded to the area of North Main Street for reports that a man was tearing apart a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers made contract with 34-year old Joshua Young of Hopkinsville who was allegedly extremely under the influence of a substance and actively tearing the wiring out of his vehicle.

A handgun was reportedly in plain sight in the drivers’ side door of the vehicle, along with a pipe typically used to consume methamphetamine. The handgun was reported stolen on May 11 and had six hollow point rounds loaded, including one in the chamber.

Young was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.  He was additionally charged with use of restricted ammunition during a felony.
