The Trigg County Historical Society will be releasing a new family history book and they are in the process of gathering information.
A news release says volunteers from around the county have volunteered to help the Trigg County Historical Society promote the upcoming family history book and offer assistance to families in their communities wishing to write their histories.
President Bob Brame said that Vice-President David Shore, Deborah Bridges and Keith Oakley will serve as community representatives during the process of gathering family histories for the Trigg County, Kentucky History and Families Book, Volume III. The Society announced the project in April.
In addition, Ricky Calhoun, Ph.D. will help compiling county history information.
Each Trigg County family may submit a historical sketch not to exceed 500 words and a photo to be included in the book at no charge. Distribution of a promotional brochure that will provide submission guidelines and details will begin early in June.
Brame says it is very important to get as many families in the county to submit their family’s history. Many have extensive family histories, but they don’t want to forget those families that have chosen to make Trigg County their home.
The Historical Society will coordinate the process of processing submissions and keep records for the project.
Brame said that the book is planned for release in the fall of 2020, which coincides with Trigg County’s bicentennial.
The book will also include histories of the county, communities, organizations, businesses, churches, schools and more. It will be a hardbound, library quality book.
The Trigg County Historical & Preservation Society, Inc. also announced that the construction of the interior of the museum is to start very soon and hopefully completed before 2020 so that they can have rotating exhibits throughout the bicentennial.
