East Seventh St. home destroyed by fire, no one injured

Fire destroyed a home on East Seventh Street in Hopkinsville Saturday morning.

The call came out just before 5 a.m. and Hopkinsville Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Henderson says flames were coming from the single-story home when they arrived.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents, who were not injured. A cat was rescued from the burning home by firefighters and while he was displeased by his circumstances, he appeared to be uninjured and healthy.

A Hopkinsville firefighter fell from the top of a ladder while fighting the blaze, but he did not require a trip to the hospital. Battalion Chief Henderson said that firefighter was okay.
