Former Hopkinsville Police Department chief Guy Howie has announced his retirement as chief of the Glasgow Police Department.
Howie led HPD from 2008 to 2014 and tells the Glasgow Daily Times that he is retiring for good this time to move back to Hopkinsville and be closer to his daughter and granddaughter.
The 63-year old Howie tells the paper he was not ordered or persuaded by Glasgow’s new mayor to step down and that he has had a good working relationship with the new administration there.
No official retirement date has been announced, as Howie is giving the City of Glasgow some time to make a plan for either an interim chief or a permanent replacement.
