Earlier reports this morning indicated Street Band, trained by Larry Jones and ridden by Sophie Doyle was scratched from today’s 145th Kentucky Oaks. However, WHAS Radio reports a computer glitch wrongly indicated the horse was scratched. The three year old race for fillies goes off just after 5 pm Hopkinsville time on likely a sloppy track due to early morning rains.
Meanwhile, Haikal has been scratched from tomorrow’s 145th Kentucky Derby due to an abscess in the left front hoof.
In other developments, Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, who was to be aboard Omaha Beach before he was scratched Wednesday, will ride Cutting Humor replacing Corey Lanerie. Cutting Humor is listed at 30-1. Smith won the Derby last year aboard Justify, who went on to win the Triple Crown.
