An intruder was shot and killed by a homeowner Sunday morning in Robertson County, Tennessee.
Investigators say 27-year old John Whitehead of Dickson, Tennessee went to the Springfield area home of David Tucker Saturday acting strangely, claiming to know Tucker and his family.
Tucker told him to leave, but Whitehead reportedly returned about 1 a.m. Sunday and forced his way inside the house.
That’s when Tucker shot Whitehead while in fear for his family’s safety, according to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department.
Whitehead died from his injuries and Tucker is not being charged with any crime.
Police say Whitehead’s family indicated he suffered from mental health issues.
