Todd Fiscal Court paid off its remaining debt on the Todd County Dispatch building three years early during its first meeting of April Friday morning.
Treasurer Tammy Robertson made the recommendation to pay off the remaining $139,000 on the Emergency Operations Center.
Robertson says that means a significant savings in interest that would have been paid over the next three years.
Magistrates approved paying off the debt on a unanimous vote.
Fiscal Court approved the purchase of two tracts of land totaling three acres near US 79 and Railroad Lane that will be part of the Novelis project. Total cost came in at just over $88,000.
Jailer Jeff Penick says he’s in the process of hiring a chief deputy and will consider applicants in and out of house. He expects to make a hire near the end of the month.
Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says Animal Control Officer Jamie Addison is asking for some type of vicious animal ordinance after recent incidents in the county and County Attorney Jeff Traughber says he’ll look into it.
In other action, magistrates made their budgeted donation of $1,000 to the local Burden Bearers chaplain service.
