Fire caused heavy damage to several apartments on Clara Drive in Pembroke Thursday night.
Pembroke Fire Chief Nick Belair says crews were dispatched to the complex on Clara just after 8 p.m.
He says a female resident of the apartment where the fire began was injured and their pets were killed.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the family who was displaced by the blaze.
Chief Belair says there were no working smoke detectors in the building.
Firefighters from Fairview, Highland, Fort Campbell and Trenton assisted at the scene.
