Florida man was driving semi that overturned

A Florida man was driving the tractor-trailer that overturned Thursday morning on I-24 in Christian County.

The report from Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Nichols says 45-year old David Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida had been eastbound in the right lane when he said a large animal ran out in front of him.

Johnson said he swerved to miss the animal and went into the median, causing his load of 40,000 pounds of copy paper to shift. He got the rig back onto the travel portion of the interstate, but it overturned onto its left side and blocked both lanes for several hours.

After initially refusing transport to the hospital, he was later taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for leg and facial pain.

Johnson was wearing his seat belt, according to the report.
