An investigation by Hopkinsville Police Friday afternoon led to the arrest of a local man for drug possession.
Officer Michael Felts was notified of a suspicious person possibly under the influence of methamphetamine near West Seventh Street and Dawson Springs Road and made contact with 38-year old Gary Douthitt in that area.
He gave consent to be patted down for weapons and police determined there were several objects in his pocket. He gave consent to search and police say they found two used needles and baggies containing a substance.
Field testing didn’t definitively identify the substance as methamphetamine, but police believed the substance to be meth. It will be further tested at a lab, according to the report.
Douthitt was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
