CASA 101 is coming up Thursday

Anyone considering becoming a volunteer for the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children—also known as CASA—can attend an informational meeting Thursday afternoon.

It’s called CASA 101 and Executive Director Virginia Erxleben says it will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hopkinsville Municipal Building.

She says it will last about an hour and attendees will learn how the process would look when a CASA volunteer receives a case of a local child in the foster care system.

There are 22 CASA programs in Kentucky and Erxleben says the volunteer gives the family court judge a complete picture of the child’s circumstances when it comes time to make important decisions.
