Kentucky State Police are investigating an attempted murder after a Drakesboro man allegedly fired shots at his wife and her teenage daughters.
According to a news release, troopers received a call from Muhlenberg County about a shooting incident and they responded around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Investigating determined that 46-year old William Dortch of Drakesboro had gotten into an altercation with his wife, and sometime during the fight she attempted to leave, taking her two daughters with her.
Dortch allegedly followed them out of the residence with a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking the victim’s vehicle as she was driving away.
The victim and her daughters were taken to Owensboro-Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Dortch was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree assault. He was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
