The Hopkinsville Tigers scored six runs in their first three at bats and held University Heights to one hit in a 9-1 season opening victory Tuesday. Robert Justus pitched five innings of one hit, no run ball to get the win. He struck out eight and walked one. Justus also had two hits in three at bats.
The Tigers got three hits from Landon Snyder with John Duvall and Caleb Bapp each adding two hits. Luke Welch took the pitching loss for UHA, with Drew McGowan getting the lone hit for the Blazers.
Hopkinsville, now 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in district play plays its home opener against Webster County Friday night. University Heights fell to 1-1 on the season and in 8th district action, returns to the district wars tomorrow night at Christian County.
