Man charged with DUI following injury crash on Fort Campbell Boulevard

A man was charged with DUI following an injury crash Tuesday morning in front of Chick Fil A on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

The collision report from Hopkinsville Police Public Safety Officer Zach Lancaster says 81-year old Smith Stokes of Hopkinsville attempted to turn left into Chick Fil A from the southbound lanes and drove into the path of a northbound car operated by 32-year old Miranda Choate of Cadiz.

Their vehicles collided and Choate was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with a fractured neck, according to the report.

Officers found an open alcohol container in Stokes’ vehicle and he reportedly registered a blood alcohol content of .160—twice the legal limit.

He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for medical clearance and personnel discovered he had a broken sternum and broken ribs.

Stokes is facing charges of DUI and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle.
