Police: Man took marijuana into jail

A Hopkinsville man arrested for public alcohol intoxication early Sunday morning had a felony tacked on after he allegedly carried marijuana into the jail.

Hopkinsville Police arrested 32-year old Nathan Lee Cowen at Dawson Springs Road and Bostick Drive just before 1 a.m. after witnessing him falling to the ground while trying to cross a grassy field, according to an arrest citation.

Cowen smelled of alcohol and was taken to the Christian County Jail.

It was there that a search of his person allegedly revealed a small plastic baggie of marijuana and Cowen was charged with promoting contraband and possession of marijuana.
