Semifinal action saw Murray State edge Jacksonville State 76-74. The Racers had four players in double figure scoring led by Ja Morant’s 29 points in improving to 26-4. Morant’s three point play late in the contest sealed the victory for the Racers. Former Christian County standout Detorrion Ware had three points in five minutes as Jacksonville State finishes 24-9.
Chris Porter-Bunton’s 18 points led Austin Peay in an 83-67 loss to top seed Belmont in the opening semifinal game. The Governors finished the season 22-11 and now wait to find out if they will see post season action.
Murray State will face Belmont in the championship game at 7 pm this evening at the Ford Center. When the teams met in late January at the CFSB Center, Belmont came away with a 79-66 victory, earning Bruins coach Rick Byrd his 700th career victory.
