Exhibit celebrates artistic talent in community’s youth

The Hopkinsville Community College Auditorium was packed Thursday evening as local students were recognized for having their art pieces chosen for the Youth Art Month exhibit currently on display at the college.

The event was hosted by the Pennyroyal Arts Council and the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club, and Arts Council Education Coordinator Molly Campbell says it’s all about showing off the talent the kids have with all different mediums of art.

Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill says she was blown away by the art, telling the students their artwork teaches people more about life and how they view it.

The exhibit, which contains 15 pieces from each local public and private school, will be on display in the auditorium building until March 27. The Youth Art Month exhibit is in celebration of National Youth Art Month and has been happening for around 20 years now, and Campbell says each year contains new amazement at the gifted students of Christian County.
