Mike Foster accepted the 2019 Bill Franklin Volunteer of the Year Award on Sunday at the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District 3 Conference in Atlanta and there will be a reception on March 12 at Hopkinsville Community College.
The Hopkinsville Community College Foundation will host a reception locally to honor Foster from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. He will give the same remarks that he gave during the award ceremony in Atlanta about the impact HCC had on his life and how having access to Hopkinsville Community College in his hometown provided him an important opportunity.
Foster, the recently retired Christian County Attorney, was selected from nominees across the southeastern United States, competing with four-year, two-year and private institutions across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
HCC President Dr. Alissa Young says, “Mike is a champion for Hopkinsville Community College. He is not only a member of the college’s inaugural graduating class of 1967, but Mike continues to support the institution as a volunteer, fundraiser and an HCC Foundation board member. Mike tells the perfect story of how students can begin at a community college and go on to achieve lifelong success.”
