Murray State’s Ja Morant has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year. Morant was also named to the All OVC First Team along with teammate Shaq Buchanan, who was named the OVC’s Defensive Player of the Year. Morant and Buchanan were joined on the All OVC First Team by Austin Peay’s Terry Taylor.
Austin Peay’s Chris Porter-Bunton was named All OVC Second Team with Murray State’s Darnell Cowart named to the All Newcomer Team. Belmont’s Rick Byrd was named OVC Coach of the Year.
On the women’s side, Murray State’s Macey Turley was named Freshman of the Year and to the All OVC Second Team. Fellow Racer Evelyn Adebayo was named to the All OVC First Team and to the All Newcomer Team. Austin Peay’s Keisha Gregory was also named All OVC First Team.
The OVC Men’s and Women’s Tournament begins tomorrow at the Ford Center in Evansville.
