The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is teaming up with Murray State University to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a Read Across America event on Tuesday.
Beverly Fort, Education Coordinator for Murray State University, and MSU student Kaitlyn Sullivan appeared on WHOP recently to discuss the event, with Sullivan saying there will be a slew of activities for families to participate in on Tuesday, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Fort says there will be appearances from multiple Dr. Seuss characters and guests will be reading different books throughout the event.
They say the event is all about encouraging literacy and early childhood education in the community and to celebrate the life of Dr. Seuss, who brought colorful characters to life for children in his many books. People will also be able to sign up their kids for the Hopkinsville-Christian County Imagination Library at the event, which provides kids between the ages of 0 and 5 with a free book once a month.
The event will take place at the public library and is free to attend and open to the public. For more information, call Fort at 270-707-1525.
