New Vanderbilt athletic director Malcolm Turner has extended the contract of football coach Derek Mason after the Commodores reached their second bowl game in three seasons. The university did not announce specifics on the salary or length of the extension. Mason has compiled a 24-38 record overall in five seasons. He’s only the second coach to take Vanderbilt to more than one bowl game. The Commodores have won at least five games each of the past three seasons.
