Christian County received six and a half inches of rain between Wednesday and Tuesday morning, but avoided any major flooding issues.
Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says no homes were damaged by flooding and there were only a few road issues.
He credits efforts to keep Little River cleaned out and other mitigation efforts by the Hopkinsville Storm Water Utility as major factors in making what would have been a major event 15 years ago into not that big of a deal.
There are a couple chances for precipitation in the forecast for the next week, but none appear to be heavy rain-makers like we’ve seen the last few days at this time.
A Flood Warning remains in effect until 2 p.m. for Christian, Todd, Trigg and surrounding western Kentucky counties. There’s also a Flood Warning for the south fork of Little River in Christian and Trigg counties. Motorists on area roads should be on the lookout for standing water and remember to turn around, don’t drown.
