A Flood Watch has been issued for all of western Kentucky from noon Wednesday through Thursday evening, with heavy rain in the forecast.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says 2 to 3 inches of rain will be possible across the region, with locally higher amounts possible where thunderstorms develop.
The heavy rain will likely result in flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas, in addition to rising water levels on area rivers, creeks, and streams.
Motorists encountering standing water on area roadways are reminded to turn around, don’t drown.
There is also a slight risk for severe weather, especially during the evening and overnight hours, when damaging winds and heavy rain will be the primary threat.
