Area gets unexpected dusting of snow

The region got some unexpected very light snow overnight and it caused a few problems on roads.

A dispatcher at Christian County ECC reports a few vehicles slid off I-24 and the Pennyrile Parkway soon after the coating of the very fine snow fell very early Saturday morning. There were no major incidents or wrecks with injuries. Todd and Trigg counties also got a dusting of snow overnight, but their dispatch centers had not received any reports of weather-related accidents. Trigg County Emergency Management did issue a statement warning of a few slick spots.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet had trucks out in Christian, Muhlenberg and Hopkins counties treating bridges, overpasses and other potential trouble spots.

Anyone traveling this morning is urged to allow a little extra time and to be on the lookout for potential slick spots on any area road.

Our next chance for accumulating snowfall is Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
