Riley Fort looks toward national Distinguished Young Woman program

Distinguished Young Woman of Kentucky Riley Fort will compete for the national title in June and appeared on WHOP Radio Monday morning.

Fort represented Christian County while winning the scholarship program featuring 30 young ladies from across Kentucky in Lexington earlier this month and says it’s an experience she will forever cherish.

The young ladies competed in the categories of fitness, interview, scholastic, and self-expression and Fort says a lot of preparation went into the program.

She says the support of family and friends who attended and of the community who welcomed her home was appreciated.

Fort will spend two weeks in Mobile, Alabama in June for the national program—where there will be a Distinguished Young Woman from every state and from Washington D.C. competing for more than $125,000 in cash scholarships and millions in college scholarships.

Fort will graduate from Hopkinsville High School in May and has already signed up to attend the University of Kentucky in the fall.
