Woman charged with felony assault after disturbance

A Hopkinsville woman was charged with felony assault early Saturday morning after her husband required medical treatment following a disturbance on North Clay Street.

Officers were called to 101 North Clay about 3 a.m. and found the male victim being treated by EMS. The suspect, 44-year old Anissa McCombs, claimed she returned home to find her boyfriend angry.

She said she hit him over the head with an ash tray after he jumped on top of her and choked and punched her—but an arrest citation from Hopkinsville Police says the only mark she had on her body was on her left ring finger.

Police say there was blood throughout the living room of the home and on the walls and floor and the victim had cuts on his head.

Both McCombs and the alleged victim admitted they had been smoking crack and synthetic marijuana, according to police.

McCombs was charged with second-degree assault and lodged in the Christian County Jail.
