The holiday season signals the start of another, less enjoyable season—flu season.
That’s according to Amanda Bassingthwaite with the Christian County Health Department, who says that cooler temperatures and people gathering together in enclosed, warm spaces, like homes, is a prime space for germs to develop.
She says the health department offers the flu shot with no need for an appointment, and she encourages everyone, especially those at a high risk, to get their shot.
Adequate supplies of flu vaccine are expected to be available for this year’s flu season. Vaccination can be given any time during the flu season, but providers are encouraged to administer the vaccine as soon as possible.
Bassingthwaite says the flu vaccine is especially important in light of the severe season experienced last year across the U.S.
