People will soon hear the familiar sound of bells at local stores, as the Salvation Army kicked off its annual red kettle bell ringing at a joint meeting of the Hopkinsville Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs Tuesday.
Attendees played Christmas themed games, sang Christmas carols and learned about the bell ringing campaign and how the money raised helps benefits those most in need in the community.
Rotarian Scott Cowan urged people to volunteer to ring the bell, saying it really helps him get into the spirit of Christmas.
Kiwanian Annie Catron says the experience is all about the kids who donate and the kids that the donations benefit.
Recent Hopkinsville High School graduate Diana Boyd says bell ringing brings her joy knowing she’s doing something to help the community.
Anyone interested in volunteering to be a bell ringer or in other ways, call the Hopkinsville Salvation Army at 270-885-9633. The ringers will be located at several different locations across the city and all donations, no matter the size, are always welcome.
